One of my first “real” bands was called Tetzel Would Be Proud. I played drums and a mailbox. The mailbox had a guitar pickup mounted inside, which was plugged into some guitar pedals. I could hit it with a drumstick, or even yell into it. Possibly one of my greatest inventions. This band stretched me musically. We were constantly playing in unusual time signatures, and switching between unusual time signatures in the songs. These were some good times! I was recently reminded that Invade the River (one of my old bands) has a bandcamp page! I miss playing music with these dudes so much. These were some of the best times I have ever had playing music, and with my best friends. We called it “Loud, Fast, Rock and Roll”. We would get together each Thursday night to play our songs and hang out. Sometimes it was more hanging out than playing music, but it wasn’t just about the music. It was mainly about the bond we had as friends. We loved each other, cared for each other, and were there for each other. This is the part I miss the most.
